Christie Joines was named Senior Associate Athletic Director/Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) at the beginning of the 2025-26 academic year. As a member of the department’s senior leadership team, Joines serves in a variety of key roles for the department working alongside the Director of Athletics in day-to-day operations for the 10 Coyote programs.
Joines, who earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of La Verne, spent nearly five years at CCAA rival Cal Poly Pomona, where she served as Associate Athletic Director and Deputy Title IX Coordinator. During this time, she gained extensive experience at a high-level Division II program and the CCAA. She served as liaison between the department and NCAA/CCAA with all compliance concerns. Joines oversaw the department's athletic grant-in-aid budgets and (former) National Letter of Intent program, as well as all aspects of student services. Joines served as sport supervisor for two nationally-ranked programs, the Bronco’s women’s volleyball and baseball programs.
Prior to Cal Poly Pomona, Joines spent more than 21 years as the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance & Eligibility at the University of La Verne. Joines oversaw a comprehensive compliance program including the monitoring of 20 sport programs, more than 550 student-athletes, coaches, staff members, and boosters adhering to the NCAA, Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and institutional rules. Joines worked with student-athletes to ensure continued eligibility for competition once enrolled at La Verne, monitoring academic and athletic compliance through Front Rush and Compliance Assistant Internet. Joines was the sport administrator for seven of the 20 varsity athletic teams, served as advisor for both the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and Champs Life Skills programs among various other responsibilities. She also served as a committee member of the SCIAC Compliance Administrators. Joines served on the LVAA Board of Directors for the La Verne Athletic Alumni Association and served on the Leopards Hall of Fame Committee.
At Cal State San Bernardino, Joines will serve as a member of senior leadership team for the Coyotes to develop and implement the department’s strategic plan, establish and enforce department-wide priorities, and set short- and long-term goals. She will serve as a lead advisor to the director on long range strategic planning initiatives, departmental policies & procedures development, support collaborative efforts that focus on relationship building and stewardship with both internal and external partners. Manage and direct day-to-day operations including conference and national tournaments, including all game day operations, facilities, project management and ticketing. Her role will also include daily oversight and management of athletics operation units including compliance services, student-athlete academic services, game operations, facilities, and equipment. Joines will also serve as sport administrator for selected sports, Deputy Title IX Coordinator and Student Conduct.
