Coussoulis Arena
The James and Aerianthi Coussoulis Arena, a 5,000-seat arena, is home to the Coyote volleyball and basketball teams.
The arena opened in 1995 as part of the overall enhancement of the university’s Health and Physical Education complex. Since its opening, the arena has hosted several NCAA Regional Championships, sports camps, large concerts, job recruitment fairs, and Pow-Wows. The arena houses locker rooms for the teams, including the athletic training facility.
Prior to the 2019-20 season, a brand-new innovatively designed floor was installed, replacing the original 1995 hardwood. The red chairback bleachers were replaced with in-brand blue chairbacks, and operational motors for two bleacher banks were replaced as well.  The finishing touch was a center-hung four-sided video board accompanied by an LED ring and LED score table, with static scoreboards on the endlines.Â
Â
The renovation is the most ambitious in the 24-year history of Coussoulis Arena, as it was accomplished in just under a tight three-month construction schedule, and the facility has reemerged as a showcase piece for the CSUSB and San Bernardino communities.Â
The box office is located on the exterior of the building with a full-service concession stand just past the entrance in the lobby area.
The arena features seating on the mezzanine and event levels, with chair-back seats on the event level south side.Â
Prior to the 2024 season, the Department of Athletics unveiled a state-of-the-art Taraflex portable surface for the women's volleyball program. The court is named in honor of legendary women's volleyball head coach Kim Cherniss. The Taraflex floor is a polyurethane sport surface that is more shock-absorbent than a typical hardwood basketball floor. The customized portable floor at CSUSB comes in 22 strips and will help prevent both long-term and immediate injuries upon impact. Taraflex is widely used at high-level volleyball competition internationally, as well as by many Division I volleyball programs.
The athletic department administrative and coaches' offices are located in the adjoining Health and Physical Education building.
