HAYWARD (May 19, 2016) — Junior RHP
Tyler Wells, who helped lead CSUSB to the CCAA Tournament for the first time in four seasons, was named to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association All-West Region second team, the organization announced Thursday.
The Yucaipa native finished his season leading the CCAA in strikeouts (89). He finished with a 4-6 record and 2.84 ERA in 15 games – all starts. He ranked third in the conference in innings pitched (92 innings) and ninth in ERA.
His 89 strikeouts rank fourth in CSUSB history and innings rank eighth in school history. He totaled 191 career strikeouts, ranking third in school history. His season accolades include striking out a career-high 12 in the season opener at Sonoma State, a one-hit shutout in a 4-0 win over Stanislaus State and two CCAA Pitcher of the Week honors.
Wells earlier this month became the Coyotes' first All-CCAA first-team starting pitcher honoree in 10 seasons.
