PHOENIX, Ariz. -- Senior all-West Region forward Obi Agwu scored his third and fourth goals of the season Saturday night as Cal State San Bernardino shut out Colorado State-Pueblo, 3-0, in a neutral site men's soccer match at Grand Canyon University.
The Coyotes are now 2-0 on the young season as they return home to prepare to open the CCAA conference schedule on Friday at Humboldt State followed on Sept. 12 with a clash with one of the CCAA's perennial top teams, Sonoma State in Rohnert Park.
Agwu, who scored twice in Thursday's win over Saint Martin's University, gave the Coyotes all the help they needed with an unassisted goal in the 19th minute. The Coyotes defense did the rest, blanking the Thunderwolves for 90 minutes helped by three saves by sophomore goalkeeper Tanner Olinger.
CSUSB freshman Marco Martinez made it a 2-0 score in the 51st minute off an assist by senior midfielder Jorge Aguirre and three minutes later,  Agwu finished the scoring with another unassisted goal.
The Coyotes outshot the Thunderwolves 17-5 and had four corner kicks to just one for CSUP. The score might have been worse had Thunderwolves goalkeeper Jacob Blum not made nine saves.
The match was played in 109-degree heat.
