SAN BERNARDINO — In just his second year as head coach, Travis Clarke is starting to build a team that could make a run after a CCAA title. The 2010 signing class continues to grow and Andrea Zimkowski became the newest name to that list. A transfer from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Zimkowski will still have four years of eligibility left after redshirting last year for the Mustangs.

Zimkowski, who will primarily play midfield at CSUSB, was a standout player at St. Joseph High School in Santa Maria, Calif. While in high school, she was named all-league all four years, gaining the league’s Most Valuable Player honor in the 2008-2009 season. During her senior year, she led the Knights to the semifinals of CIF and an overall record of 16-3-6. She scored 18 goals and added 11 assists. She ended her career at St. Joseph as the programs all time leader in assists (37) and led her team to 61 wins in four years.

On the club circuit, Zimkowski played for Madrid Premier Soccer Club in the Coast Soccer League Gold Bracket. At the club level, she helped her team win the Nomads College Showcase, US Club California Cup and reached the finals of the US Club Far West Region Tournament.

“Andrea is a very good player and we are excited that she will be a Coyote in 2010,” said Clarke. “She has an amazing left foot and her ability to control a midfield from defensive point of view will be a great asset to our team going forward. Andrea is very excited about the opportunity to come help a program move to the next level and we feel she will make the overall atmosphere of our midfield very competitive.”
