Carmona Adds to Coyote Depth

Jani Carmona continues the strong class of signees by Travis Clarke

Carmona looks to add speed and striking ability to CSUSB.

SAN BERNARDINO — Jani Carmona is one of the latest signees to ink with Cal State San Bernardino for the 2010 season. Carmona reunites with head coach Travis Clarke after Carmona played club soccer for Clarke as a youth player and at Hawaii-Hilo

Carmona played one season at Hilo before transferring to Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria, Calif. She did not play at AHC and will transfer into CSUSB with three years of eligibility left.

Carmona graduated from Lompoc (Calif.) High where she was a three-time All-Los Padres League first team selection (2005-2007) and led her team to a league championship in 2007. She scored 21 goals in her final season, graduating in 2007. At the club level, she played for Madrid Premier G88 in the Coast Soccer League Gold bracket and was used as a borrow player for the Honolulu Bulls in Surf Cup.

As a senior, Carmona was called up to the under-20 Mexican National Team. At the college level, Carmona appeared in 15 games, starting 12, at Hawaii-Hilo. She scored six goals and dished out three assists in her only season at UHH where the Vulcans compiled a 12-8-0 overall record.

“We are excited to have Jani become a member of our program in 2010,” said Clarke. “I have known and coached her since she was 12-years-old and am very excited that I have the opportunity to watch her play again and more importantly graduate from college. Jani has an amazing ability to beat defenders one versus one and she will add to an already good group of attacking players. She has experience at the top levels of club soccer, including time with the Mexican National Team and will have an impact on our team and the CCAA in 2010.”
