SAN BERNARDINO — Persistence and perseverance are two qualities Cal State San Bernardino has definitely showed early in the young, and rough, tennis season. After Tuesday's 9-0 sweep of La Verne, it showed that those two qualities finally paid off.

The Coyotes (1-6) snapped a 12-match losing streak, dating back to the 2009 season, by winning each of their nine matches.

Janay Palicte continued to roll winning her third straight match in both singles and doubles. Palicte combined with Christina Torres to knock off Jessenia Garcia and Jennifer Baca, 8-0, at No. 2 doubles before Palicte beat Megan Dean in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 2 singles.

CSUSB also got doubles wins from Allison Brooks and Isabella Fraczek over Kelly Griffith and Dean at No. 1, 8-2, and Kara Jenkins and Courtney Schumacher defeated Vanessa Vasquez and Lauren Meeks, 8-4, at No. 3.

Brittany Choate dropped the first set at No. 1 singles to Griffin, 4-6, but battled back to win the second 6-2 and won the tiebreaker (10-1). Fraczek nearly blanked Katrina Tornos at No. 3 singles, winning 6-0, 6-1. Jenkins downed Baca, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 4 while Torres won, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 5 over Vasquez. Brooks also won, 6-1, 6-3 at No. 6 singles over Meeks.
